HoustonPBS Belongs To You. Many people think HoustonPBS is funded by the state and government through taxes, but this is not the case. While a small percentage does come from federal sources, 84% of all HoustonPBS funds come directly from community support. That means sponsorship from local businesses and organizations, foundations and estates, support from the Friends of HoustonPBS, but the majority of HoustonPBS support comes directly from people all across Houston and the Gulf Coast area, PEOPLE LIKE YOU! In fact 63% of our support comes from individuals. Just think that is $4,611,600 annually! Although we are licensed through the University of Houston, we do not receive any direct financial support from them due  to a state law.
