Welcome to Houston Public Media!
We are a multi-media force, consisting of HoustonPBS, KUHF News 88.7 and Classical 91.7, that uses the power of public broadcasting and digital platforms to provide the citizens of southeast Texas with non-commercial content that serves the common good, encourages civic participation, supports life-long learning and celebrates the arts. We honor diversity, embrace innovation, and partner with those who share our passion for public service. We are committed to creating a better quality of life for everyone living in the Greater Houston area.
Located at the LeRoy and Lucile Melcher Center for Public Broadcasting on the University of Houston Main Campus, we are licensed by the Federal Communications Commission to the University of Houston.
Most of our $25 million dollar operating budget comes from people just like you. The vast majority is donated by the communities we serve--from individuals, local businesses and foundations, special projects and events. We simply couldn’t do what we do without your support.
The Association for Community Broadcasting is a non-profit 501(c)3 support organization made up of volunteers who raise funds for both HoustonPBS and Houston Public Radio and serve as advocates on the local and national levels.
At Houston Public Media, we’re excited about what the future holds for the country’s first educational television station, the city’s most trusted source for news and information and the only radio station in Houston dedicated to the arts. We know that together, with your support, we can continue to make Houston a great place to live, work, and play.
