HoustonPBS Nominated for FOUR Lone Star EMMY Awards!

Awards ceremony to be held on Saturday, November 5 in Houston

(Houston, TX- October 5, 2011)

HoustonPBS has received four 2011 Lone Star EMMY Award nominations. Nominations were announced on Friday, September 30. The Lone Star EMMY Chapter recognizes excellence in the Texas television broadcasting industry. 

Programs nominated include the 2011 HoustonPBS Spelling Bee telecast in the Children/Youth Teen Program/Special category ; A Conversation on Race: Houston, Civil Rights and the Sixties in the Texas Heritage Program/Special category and Galveston: Gateway on the Gulf in the historical documentary category.  Videographer/Editor Matthew Brawley was also nominated in the Craft category for his directing work on the 2011 HoustonPBS Spelling Bee.

The Lone Star EMMY Chapter received close to 1200 entries, making 2011 one of the biggest years in their nine year history. Winners will be announced at the Lone Star EMMY Awards show in Houston on Saturday, November 5. For a complete list of winners, click here.
