HoustonPBS to Offer Special Thank You Gift for New Sustainers

For the month of May, HoustonPBS is offering two special thank you gifts to encourage viewers to become monthly sustaining supporters. Those who sign up for the station’s Sustainer Advantage can choose a yearly subscription to either My Table magazine - Houston’s dining publication - or the award-winning Houston Business Journal Online.

Encouraging HoustonPBS members and viewers to become monthly supporters is a priority for the station’s overall financial health and a new focus in their fundraising efforts. Sustaining members help Channel 8 reduce fundraising costs and allow the station to use those savings to buy additional programming.

“Sustaining members have an enormous impact on our station. Members who donate monthly save the station thousands of dollars in administrative costs because we don’t have to mail renewal letters,” says Abby Koenig, Director of Membership at HoustonPBS. “It’s good for the environment because we’re not using as much paper and we can put those savings towards purchasing the programs people love to watch on Channel 8.”

The station teamed up with Houston focused publications My Table magazine and the Houston Business Journal to encourage new monthly sustainers. For My Table magazine, the partnership was a natural fit.

“We wanted to support the station because like HoustonPBS, My Table values independent thinking and dishes up food for thought,” says Teresa Byrne-Dodge, Editor and Publisher of My Table magazine.
