Association for Community Broadcasting (ACB) – Summer E-scapes Prize Drawing

Official Rules

1.            NO PURCHASE, PAYMENT, OR DONATION IS NECESSARY TO ENTER OR TO WIN.  A PURCHASE, PAYMENT, OR DONATION WILL NOT IMPROVE YOUR CHANCES OF WINNING.  ALL FEDERAL, STATE, LOCAL AND MUNICIPAL LAWS AND REGULATIONS APPLY.  VOID WHERE PROHIBITED.

2.            The Association for Community Broadcasting (ACB) – Summer E-scapes Prize Drawing (the “Drawing”) is open only to persons 18 years of age or older at the time of entry who reside within one of the following Texas counties: Angelina, Austin, Brazoria, Brazos, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, Fayette, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Hardin, Harris, Houston, Jackson, Jasper, Jefferson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Orange, Polk, San Jacinto, Trinity, Tyler, Victoria, Waller, Walker, Washington, and Wharton.  The members of the Association for Community Broadcasting (ACB) Board and Advisory Board, and employees of HoustonPBS, the University of Houston, and each of their respective affiliated companies, and advertising and promotional agencies, and the immediate family members of, and any persons domiciled with, any such members or employees, are not eligible to enter or to win.  The term “immediate family members” includes spouses, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, and grandchildren.

3.            To enter the Drawing, make an online donation during the ACB campaign between July 1, 2011 and July 31, 2011 (the “Donation Period”).  All online donors to the Summer E-scapes campaign will be automatically entered into the Drawing.  To make a donation, visit www.houstonpbs.org and complete all required information. 

4.            Three (3) prize packages (Prizes) will be given out after the Donation Period. These Prizes will be drawn in the following order:

  • Rick Steves’ 7 Day : PARIS city tour for two (2) including airlines tickets (Continental BusinessFirst) – (Details at http://tours.ricksteves.com/tours11/product.cfm/rurl/code/PAR11/223) (ARV: $12,000) – booking period 8/1/2011 – 8/1/2012
  • 64 GB BlackBerry PlayBook, Charging Pod and Protective Skin Cover (ARV: $800.00)
  • Gift Certificate for a 3-Night stay at Hoopes House in Rockport, TX (ARV: $575.00)

5.            Alternatively, you can enter the Drawing without making a donation by clicking here and completing all of the required information and following all posted instructions or hand-printing your name, address, daytime telephone number, and email address on a 3” x 5” card or piece of paper and mailing your entry to HoustonPBS – Summer E-scapes, 4343 Elgin, Houston, TX  77204-0008.  All mail-in entries must be postmarked by July 31, 2010 and received by August 11, 2011.  Maximum one entry per stamped outer envelope.

6.            Only one entry per household will be accepted.

7.            Sponsors will not accept incomplete, lost, late, postage-due, misdirected or illegible entries and will not be responsible for failure to receive entries due to transmission failures or technical failures of any kind, including, without limitation, malfunctioning of any telephone or computer network, hardware or software, whether originating with sender or Sponsors.  Any questions regarding the number of entries submitted shall be determined by Sponsors in their sole discretion, and Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify any entries by persons determined to be tampering with or abusing any aspect of the Drawing.  All entries become property of Sponsors and none will be returned.

8.            One (1) Winner per Prize will be selected in a random drawing from among all eligible entries received to be held on or about August 16, 2011.  The Winner need not be present to win. 

9.            Odds of winning depend on the number of eligible entries received.

10.         Subject to verification of eligibility and compliance with these Official Rules, the Winner will receive One (1) of the designated Prizes.  

11.         Official photo identification will be required to claim the prize. Winner will be notified by telephone and email provided by Winner at time of entry.  If Sponsors are unable to reach Winner within five business days from the date of the prize drawing, he or she will be disqualified and will forfeit all interest in the prize, and a substitute winner will be selected.  In the event that more than one entry is accidentally drawn from the hopper, there will be a random drawing from among the entries that have been simultaneously drawn to determine a winner.

12.         In the event the Winner does not accept the prize for any reason, is deemed ineligible by Sponsors, or fails to comply with these Official Rules, the prize will be awarded to a substitute winner selected in a random drawing from among all remaining eligible entries.  This process will be repeated if necessary until a winner is determined.

13.         Winner is solely responsible for any reporting and payment of any taxes applicable to the prize.

14.         Winner may be required to complete an affidavit of eligibility, and a liability and publicity release which must be returned within ten (10) days of date of postmark or hand delivery.  Failure to sign and return the affidavit or release in a timely fashion, or to comply with any term or condition of these Official Rules, may result in a winner’s disqualification, the forfeiture of his or her interest in the prize, and the award of the prize to a substitute winner.

15.         By accepting a prize, the Winner consents to allow his/her name, biographical information and likeness to be publicized by Sponsors in any media, including the Internet, without limitation or further compensation, and to allow the official prize presentation to be videotaped for a promotional announcement that may air on HoustonPBS.

16.         Winner may waive his/her right to receive prize.  No cash or prize substitutions allowed by Winner.  Winner’s right to receive a prize is nonassignable and non-transferable.  Prizes and individual components of prize packages are subject to availability and Sponsors reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value.

17.         By participating, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of Sponsors, which shall be final in all respects.  Sponsors reserve the right to disqualify persons found tampering with or otherwise abusing any aspect of this Drawing as solely determined by Sponsors. 

18.         In the event the Drawing is compromised by tampering or other causes beyond the reasonable control of Sponsors which corrupts or impairs the administration, security, fairness or proper operation of the Drawing, Sponsors reserves the right in their sole discretion to suspend, modify or terminate the Drawing.  Should the Drawing be terminated prior to the stated expiration date, Sponsors reserve the right to award prizes based on the entries received before the termination date.

20.         The Association for Community Broadcasting (ACB) Summer E-scapes Prize Drawing is sponsored by HoustonPBS, The Association for Community Broadcasting (ACB), and the University of Houston System (collectively, “Sponsors”).

21.         Sponsors will not be responsible for typographical, printing or other inadvertent errors in these Official Rules or in other materials relating to the Drawing.
