In 1973, Sheryl Lee Ralph was crowned “Miss Black Teen-Age New York.” At 19, she was named one of the top 10 college women in America by Glamour magazine. But, it was as Deena Jones in the original Broadway production of Dreamgirls that she finally arrived! Hollywood was next – on TV she joined the casts of “It’s A Living” and “Designing Women”, and on the big screen she appeared in The Mighty Quinn and The Flintstones. But most would probably recognize Ralph from her 5 year stint as Brandy’s step-mom on the hit TV series “Moesha”. Outside of show biz, Sheryl Lee is married to Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent Hughes, and works tirelessly in the fight against HIV/AIDS. On this episode of InnerVIEWS…, Ernie’s conversation with Tony nominee, Sheryl Lee Ralph.
